Closer Huston Street recieved co-NL Player of the Week honors after getting 4 saves the past week. Street shares the honor with Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds. This has been a great week for the Rockies and he certainly deserves the award as he pitched 4 2/3 innings while striking out 8.
Tracy stated that this has to do with the speed of his fastballs now reaching up to 94 mph while in Spring Training and the early season reached only upper 80's to low 90's. This has helped his slider and changeup become more effective. Troy Tulowitzki was also considered for the award as he batted .471 and cranking out 3 homeruns in helping the Rockies get to 11 in a row. I can't wait to see how the team responds after taking the day off then going back into action. Colorado starts a 3 game series against the Tampa Bay Rays in interleague play. Both teams have been hot as of late so I look foward to a great matchup.
