Not even the weather could slow the Rockies down as they had little trouble winning their 11th game in a row. Colorado defeated the Mariners 7-1, and the only thing that took Hammel out of the game was the fact the game was delayed due to tornado warnings in the area along with heavy rain and hail. Hammel (4-3) did, however, get the win for the Rockies while Jason Vargas took his second loss of the season bringing his record to 2-2 on the season.
The Mariners would get their only run of the night on a sac fly in the 1st inning. Tulo would answer with a sac fly of his own in the 2nd to tie it all up. The Rockies broke the game open in the 5th as Seattle walked Troy Tulowitzki to load the bases, Chris Iannetta made them pay by launching a bases clearing double. The win brings the Rockies record to a game within the .500 mark at 31-32 and dropped Seattle to 30-33. The 11 game win streak is tied for the longest in the majors this season as the Red Sox did it earlier in the season. The Rockies have outscored opponents 73-28, while the starters have won 10 of the 11 games. The Rockies get a much deserved day off before they host the defending AL Champs Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. I hope the day off doesn't affect the way they been playing and hope they continue to dominate and get above the .500 mark. Keep it up Rockies!!
