Jason Marquis will be going for his NL leading 9th win tonight when Seattle(30-31) comes to town to take on the Rockies (29-32). Colorado has won 9 straight games and will be looking to build on that as they make a run in the division. The Mariners will start Brandon Morrow who is 0-3 this season and will be taking the place of Mariners ace Eric Bedard who was scheduled to make the start. Bedard is out due to shoulder inflammation, but is expected to make his next start as the Mariners decided to play it safe to avoid further injury.
Brandon Morrow has never faced the Rockies in his career, while Marquis is 1-0 in 2 starts with a 3.18 ERA against Seattle. Seattle slugger Adrian Beltre has had success against Marquis in the past going 4-12 with a home run against him, Russel Branyan has a home run against him as well. Troy Tulowitzki looks to keep his hit streak alive as he is batting .474 his last 6 games with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs. Clint Barmes is also on fire as of late hitting .429 in his last 10 games started. Colorado is set up well for tonight as they go for their 10th straight win and have outscored opponents 61-18 during the historic win streak.
It sure is good to be a Rockies fan as they fight to get back in the race which sees them trailing St. Louis by only 3.5 games in the wild card race. How long will this last I don't know but I am sure going to enjoy it while it lasts and continue to support my Rockies no matter what happens. I think this is great that the Rockies have found a winning combination after being written off by so many, I guess the manager change is just what this club needed as Jim Tracy will be going for a 12-4 record tonight since taking over.
