The Colorado Rockies (28-32) will come home after an amazing road trip which saw the club take their last 8 games and are looking to extend that streak to 9 when they take on the Seattles Mariners (30-30) in tonights game. Ubaldo Jimenez (4-6, 3.91 ERA) will be on the mound for the Rockies in hopes of adding to the streak. Seattle will counter with Jarod Washburn (3-4, 3.07 ERA) hoping to keep the Mariners rolling as well and try to end the red hot Rockies. The Mariners have won 4 of their last 5 games coming into tonights matchup.
Colorado is 9-14 at home this season, a record which Jim Tracy looks to improve "Now we have to take this home with us to our fans and get our house in order", Tracy stated, "Because we're a much better team at home than 9-14." Jim Tracy is 10-4 since taking over for Clint Hurdle after getting off to an 18-28 record. Jimenez has never faced the Mariners while Washburn is 1-0 in 3 starts and 4 appearances against the Rockies with an ERA of 3.15.
The Rockies have had interleague success over the past few seasons and are hoping this win streak is for real and that they can stay in contention. Colorado is only a half game out of 3rd place in the division and 3 games out of 2nd. They are also closing the gap on the Wild Card and are now only 5 games out. I myself see the Rockies take at least 2 of 3 from Seattle(of course im hoping for another sweep) with they way this club has turned around there is no limitations on how far they will go this season. I guess a change of manager is what this club needed and they continue to play great baseball.
